Mohammad Navid Bazargan was born in Tehran in 1963. He is a graduate of Persian language and literature and has been a professor of Persian language and literature in Iran at Azad University for twelve years. Former editor of Farhang va Adab academic journal, member of the editorial board of Adab-e Hamasi journal, member of the group of authors of the Islamic Encyclopaedia Center, and member of the group of authors of the Encyclopedia of Persian Language and Literature, scientific secretary of the international conference on the 1000th anniversary of Ferdowsi’s Shahnameh at the Rayzan International Conference Centre in 2011. The scientific secretary of the international conference commemorating the thoughts of Mowlana Jalaluddin Balkhi at the Rayzan International Conference Centre in 2009 is one of the cultural activities that he has been engaged in during these years.
Most of his research is in the fields of mysticism and Iranian mythology, which have been published in the form of articles, especially in encyclopedias. Bazargan received a research scholarship from Harvard University from 2003 to 2004, which allowed him to further his studies in the field of pre-Islamic literature. He took advantage of the study opportunity and research at Northridge University in California for two years in 2013. From 2015 until now, Bazargan has been teaching Persian literature in the three departments of classical literature, Mashruteh literature, and contemporary Persian literature at the University of Maryland under the invitation of Roshan Institute.
